How many have the Glock 23 Gen5? Opinions? I have one, but I'm not impressed with it. I have multiple holsters for Glocks, but the Gen 5 doesn't fit any of them. It feels bulky compared to my Gen 3. Other than that, I really don't see any differences. Starting to wonder if it was a wise purchase.

I have one and I'm quickly buying up the Gen 5 line. I like the flared magwell and the tapering in the front of the slide. Makes holstering easier.

The only drawback is Gen 5 threaded barrels are hard to get right now. That'll remedy itself soon enough.

I had one, before I got rid of all my Glocks. Actually was one of my favorites. The extra slide mass dampens the snap of .40 really well. More pleasant to shoot than the Gen 4 that I also used to own,

It does take a different holster than the other Glocks, due to the bit extra slide width.

I have seen several holster makers list Gen 5 .40's on their sites. I have a couple of Comp-Tac holsters made for the Gen 5. I also have a Serpa that was for a G20 or G21 and the Gen 5 .40's fit in there just fine.

Because those are all the same frame and slide width.

The Gen 5 pistols in .40 caliber have a wider slide than previous generations.
Oh interesting. I didn’t know that. I’ve been thinking about the G21 MOS. I wonder about its size.

I assumed all of the dimensions were all the same from g3 to g4 to g5. Thanks for sharing that they aren’t.

G21 Gen 5 is the same as the previous generations. It's just the .40 Gen 5 models.

Glocks website says they are slightly wider but it may not be enough to make a difference.
Yeah, depends on the holster. You'll get a better fit with a leather holster vs form-fitted Kydex, but I used to have several Kydex holsters for my older 9mm Glocks, and they worked fine for the Gen 5 G19. Not for the Gen 5 G23, though. There's too much of a difference in slide width particularly.

I'm not 100% certain, but I have read that the Gen 5 .40's are the same slide width as the G37, G38, G39 .45 GAP pistols. I've never seen a .45 GAP pistol in person, though.

I just looked and the 19g5 is slightly wider than the g3 or g4. I didn’t notice as I did need to loosen up any of my holsters.
All 9mm Glocks have a 1.0 inch slide width. The only slide they changed was the Gen 5 in 40 cal is now 1.08 inch (basically the same slide as the 45 GAP versions)

Where they got smaller with the Glock 41 in 45 the went smaller with 1.0 the same as the 9mm line but the 21 in 45 acp is 1.12 inches

I knew that (in Gen 5) the 27 and 23 were wider than the 26 and 19 respectively but didn't think the 22 was wider than the 17. I fact checked you ... you are right. I learned something.

When the 40 caliber Gen 5 27 and 23 first came out I was excited ... until I realized that they wouldn't fit the holsters of their predecessors. Then I got un-excited.

They really do shoot a lot smoother than the older ones, though. Worth a new holster or two, IMO. Sights and mags are the same.

I never really had a problem with how the Gen 4's shoot (of course I don't know what I'm missing.) I have to admit also that the wider pistol slides seemed like aircraft carriers in my hand. I purchased the highly-praised G30 Gen 4 a few years ago. Tons of people love that gun but I just couldn't get into it. I really tried. I even shot a bowling pin match with it but it always just seemed absurdly wide to me. I eventually sold it and got the much more narrow 41 and love that one but the slide is the same width as a 17. Then again, I don't like pineapple pizza either.
