That sounds funny, but I'm pretty sure it's untrue. According to the CDC, 1,362 people died of constipation in the SIX years between 2014-2020, for an average of 227 deaths per year. I can't find anywhere that data from 2021 or 2022 has been published yet, but unless there was a major surge, it wouldn't have been anywhere near 2,167.

The article states 2,167 deaths from constipation, BUT the deaths include all years between 1999 and 2014. Whoever made this meme didn't read the article closely enough.

Still, constipation kills roughly half as many people as rifles do every year in our country. So that's an interesting little tid bit.
