I had a good laugh about this. The guy reminded me of the soup nazi from Seinfeld..."NO SOUP FOR YOU." I never heard back from him :dunno: anyway, enjoy the read

(For the record, I'm not complaining. I really could care less about this deal not happening. I just found this guys email etiquette hilarious.)

Also, I'm pretty positive this was a scam based on this guys responses. So anyone dealing with "Kelvin," be warned.

Do you still have the xds? If so, what is your bottom line?

I can likely drive to pick it up. Where are you located?

    From: Me
If you're in Indianapolis, I can pick it up in person. I'm an Indiana resident, and it's legal for me to own a handgun. I've got a valid Indiana LTCH and drivers license, and a face to face transaction is legal in Indiana with no FFL involved.

Indy isn't very far from me. I can drive to you to make the transaction.

Why would you want to ship to an FFL?

No need to get angry. I'm asking a legitimate question. I've done many firearm trasactions over armslist and INGO face to face, and they've all been fine. In Indiana, you don't have to go through an FFL, so I'm just asking why you only want to ship to an FFL.

I'd be uncomfortable sending payment sight unseen to someone I don't know. I'm not saying you are a scammer, but there are scammers out there.

If you absolutely must go through an FFL, I have no problem with it. Like I said, I'm legal, and have no issues filling out and passing a background NICS check. I've done it many times.

Would you be willing to meet at your local FFL face to face and do the transaction through them? This will allow you to have me checked in the NICS system for your peace of mind, and for us to do the transaction face to face so that I'm not blindly sending money to a stranger that I've never met.

I do, however, ask that you pay for the NICS check as it's unnecessary. Like I said, I have a valid license to cary and an Indiana drivers license that you can look at to show that it's legal for me to buy a gun from you if you would like.

My friend contacted this guy and also had the same problem. Offered to drive to him and pick it up but he was determined to ship it to a FFL. It is one of the many SCAMS on Armlist.

    Probably a scam
If not, then you should pay half for the PPT face to face at an FFL

No checks are required during a FTF transaction, not even a DL.

Either do no checks, cash in hand, gun in hand, or do a PPT at an FFL

A DL and LTCH mean nothing, and prove nothing anyway.

I would refuse to pay for half of the NICS check at an FFL. If a seller or buyer wants it for their peace of mind, that's all on them. I think it's completely unnecessary for ftf transactions. I won't let it ruin a deal, but I'm sure as snot not paying for it.

Do I ask you to go take a driving test at the DMV prior to selling you my used car? That's what I liken a NICS check on ftf transactions to.

lol wow...about the only thing I can say is either it's a scam or he is misinformed about needing an FFL for sales. My only guess would be he read somewhere about needing a FFL to ship guns in other states and mistook that you needed them for in state as well. But then again it's probably a scam.

There is absolutely no reason for him to deny a local pickup. Armslist is meant to local deals. However, I have shipped items to buyers in other states. It's just a shame that scammers have ruined this for the majority of the good/honest people out there.
