French intelligence agencies are certain that Iran is hiding a nuclear weapons program, President Nicolas Sarkozy said Tuesday.

"We cannot let Iran acquire nuclear" weapons because it would also be a threat to Israel, Sarkozy said during a meeting at the Elysee presidential palace with lawmakers from his conservative UMP party.

"It is a certainty to all of our secret services. Iran is working today on a nuclear (weapons) program," he said.

The French leader also said he would not "shake the hand of someone who wants to wipe Israel off the map", referring to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

So there we have it. Rather than surrender immediately, teh French will hang tough and stop shaking hands... Rest of story here:

France refuses to shake hands. What's next? Iran blows a raspberry in France's direction? It's elementary school all over again.

What the H*ll is France going to do about it - wave a white flag with a yellow stain* on it till they give up their nukes? Or do they want to start a fight, so they can have us come save their sorry arses yet again?

    * (In case you are wondering about the stain..... it is from them soiling themselves before the pending attack, and wiping it on the flag to help show their complete and total cowardly submission.)

Way to come to the party late, you sorry bunch of ungrateful pansies! :xmad:

Perhaps you've been missing the news on this issue, but France has been at the forefront on the issue of denying nuclear weapons to Iran. They, unlike Obama and Bush, have called for strengthened sanctions and action on the matter. The French government is ahead of the curve on this issue, while the US is well behind the curve. Obama wants to talk and Sarkozy refuses to meet with the Iranian leader. Who's the better man?

France has strong commercial ties to Iran and Iran's main trading powers which it hopes to leverage into effective action preventing a nuclear armed Iran. The USA has little economic leverage since 1979.

We had all better hope that the French are successful as a Iranian war with Israel, who has been flexing their muscles and conducting long range "trianing missions" lately, would be a devasting blow to the US economy.

I for one thing it is INEVITABLE that Iran or another less than friendly Islamist state will eventually obtain nuclear weapons. I also think there is little that we can do until they do something with them. And I'm unsure if we can tell if they were behind something being done in the name of some radicals.

Eventually, imho, we will get the third nuclear explosion in anger. And some ANTI (nuke crowd) might welcome it in order to re-fuel disarmament for the USA.
