Well I would love to pass on the information to fellow ingo'ers but she hasn't called back. I know esrice has his engrave the same as me, my best advice at this point is to leave 4h blank. Will update if/when I get a call.

    INFO FOR ALL:
I spoke with the ATF again today. Dudash is on vacation which explains why she didn't call me back. I spoke with a specialist and here are the results. (1) Never use white out. He specifically stated this was a no no. If you need to make a correction, single line through it and write it next to it. (2) Your engraving must be whatever you put in block 1. If you are doing this as an Individual, it must me your full name.

At least I know all of this for the future. I'm not sure if this is something that they are just now starting to enforce or what. For everyone's reference in the future, whatever name you use in block 1 must be what you engrave on the weapon, and even though you don't have to put anything in 4h, do not use abbreviations other than accepted postal abbreviations.

I will be going for some new engraving.

No wonder our crap is taking so long to get approved. I'm pending 4 1/2 months on an SBR registration. =/

Not that I begrudge someone their vacation time... they just need more examiners. Well, what's really needed is a repeal of NFA '34, but that isn't happening any time soon, so more examiners are called for.

I had the exact issue with my Form 1 I sent in to Nikki last year. I was able to talk to her the first time I called and she laid it out for me black and white....The short version is:

    Leave 4H blank.
She said a single line through the error with your initials buy it is the way to go.

The good news is you should have a stamp in your possession within a week of sending it back as it goes on the TOP of the pile when it goes back in.

Yeah, I have learned that in the future 4h will always be blank. I hope to have my stamp back in the first week of January because of the holidays. Then I get to have a fun day in the New Year. Bummer is that my form 4 for my suppressor will be coming back because I did not write the Chief of Police's name in. I figured they would have had it all done. What I didn't know is that if someone signs for the chief, you still have to write his name in as well as the department he works for. Oh well, learning lessons one new adventure at a time.

Thats jackassery. Mine are all : C Shaffer, Danville, IN.

They have the power to give a variance and they should in situations like this. Look at Thompson Center Contenders, they are marked TCA for the manufacturer.

Making someone spell out the whole personal name is idiotic.

They do, but in the case of a regular mfg, don't you have to apply for that variance?

Alright, had my stamp come back on Christmas eve, at least that was the day we got it out of the box. It may have been there from the day before. In my case, it did require the entire name on it. Next question, does anyone recommend an engraver?

I want to say thanks to everyone in this thread. I'm home sick today so I thought I'd get my Form 1 filled out. The way I'm understanding this, I need to use my initials J M Doe in 3b instead of John Mutt Doe, unless I want to engrave John Mutt Doe, Indianapolis IN on the receiver. Correct?

I don't think that will work. I would guess they will not accept your form without your name in 3b. My recommendation would be to put down John Doe and leave 4h blank.

That's what I was thinking as well. Using John Doe wouldn't be too bad to engrave, but Johnathan M Doe(legal name) would take up a lot more room on the receiver.
