I am wanting to start focusing my career in the direction of possibly being a Bodyguard.
I've just turned 22 and have only been in the "Security" field for a year. I only have a HS diploma so far. So as far as experience and education I don't have a lot under my belt yet.
What I'm looking for in the thread is some pointers on how I begin my steps towards being a bodyguard. I'm pretty sure by what I have studied so far I'm not going to be able to walk in a position yet due to my lack of experince.
But any of you who again are seasoned in this type of field please feel free to give me all the information you have.
I know I have what it takes and I would enjoy being a Bodyguard but I want to start on the right foot.

After reading my thread I guess I could have been a little more specific. I'm not talking just about bodyguard like the president body guard. But like a private security detail.
A buddy of mine worked for the Simons. Yes the people who own the Simon malls. Something on the lines of that is what I'm looking to get into.

    Experience is must.

1.) Join the military. Try to go with something security related. Air Force Security Police, Marine Security Forces, etc. Or go something hardcore and combat heavy. Air Force Para-Rescue, Army Rangers or SF, Marine Force Recon or Infantry, etc.

    or

2.) Go back to school...get at least an AA or AS in Criminal Justice and shoot for a LE career in a moderate or bigger city. Many opportunities for LEO's in Indiana to work private security when off duty. This includes plenty of contract work like you're talking about.

I would say there are many private companies being run by LEO's as a side business that do nothing but contract other LEO's for private security duties. I know my Department has an officer that did this very thing. He started a security business and then turns around and sub-contracts other officers to the assignemnts. Sometimes the assignements are regular weekly gigs providing site security for simple things like local bars, concerts, events, etc. Other times, it is for higher profile events....sometimes it's a DHS contract to provide extra airport security....and sometimes, though rare in my neck of the woods, an individual comes to town that needs a PSD. One of the Saudi Princes came to town here a few months back and needed a local escort PSD but had so many stipulations (no females, no Jews, etc) that the local LE said they couldn't provide the services they wanted. So the Prince contracted his PSD through this officer's company.

Working in LE will net you personal contacts, credibility, and experience.

I'm sure there are other ways to go about this.

I'd have said "screw the money when he finds out" and given that racist/sexist jerk a team of nothing but Jewish women.

i'm with brainslushy on this one. leo or .mil will lend credence to your resume'. psd is quite specialized and requires much more than big muscles and a pistol. you will likely see behavior from your primary with which you don't agree. perhaps you will be require to provide escort to places and areas that you wouldn't frequent on a bet. the list goes on. consider speaking with someone currently performing these duties face to face. you may reconsider. jmho.
