According to the Sheriff's Office, Powell said that she was "foolishly playing" with her uncle's .40-caliber pistol when she pulled the trigger and shot her cellphone, which she was holding in her right hand.

Well, at least the gun didn't "Just go off" by itself like usual.

Who's saying it didn't? Better sue the manufacturer.

From the article: "The aunt said she threw the gun out of her car as she drove on Saxon Boulevard near I-4, according to deputies. The gun has not been found." BRILLIANT

It's kind of like golf clubs. One bad shot then you toss it. I'm gonna sue the club manufacturers.

Im gonna guess it was a stolen gun or used in a crime at some point. She shot herself in the garage, then put the gun in the car, and tossed it out the window some time on the way to the hospital??

So she pontentially threw a hot loaded gun out the window on an interstate. Hopefuly it had some sort of drop safety. She probably told the police she was afraid it would shoot one of them again -_- sneaky little gun

How does a .40 S&W not penetrate a cell phone and go through her hand? There are lots of holes in the story, if not one completely through her hand.

What is suspicious about that? Don't you throw your gun out on the way home from the range cause it missed a few bullseyes?
    I thought everybody did that.

Yeah, maybe used for some nefarious purpose. I think you nailed it.
