[Walmart new employee Ervin]Jones was sitting in his Nissan Maxima car, waiting for his 4 a.m. shift to begin, according to co-workers, when a man with a gun walked up to him. ...
The victim, who has a concealed weapons permit, pulled out his gun and opened fire during the encounter. The subject was pronounced dead on the scene.

    The family that carries together...:

[Ervin's sister Natshia] Jones added that her entire family has concealed weapons permits.

Hopefully Walmart doesn't fire the guy as I'm sure many employers would. Definitely an unfortunate situation but at least he was prepared and had his wits about him to react appropriately.

He was not on the clock, he was waiting for his shift to begin in the parking lot while sitting in his private car. There is no firable offense in that situation.

Whether or not the law supports his action does not impact what a private employer may or may not do. He shot a guy in their parking lot, he was an employee, whether or not he continues to be an employee is up to them.

Personally, I'd make him employee of the month and put his picture, with his gun, up on the wall...and maybe sponsor a CC class for the local community. It would probably help with shop lifting too.
