I have been buying parts for this build for about 4 months and got it all together tonight. It is all Palmetto state parts, other than the mags. I still have to put sights on it and then I can take it to the range. :rockwoot:

I really like the way it turned out. The upper is a little heavy with that shroud on it but it came that way and was a great deal so can't complain. Might take it off and put different set of rails on it . Or might get a heavier stock and balance it out some.

might consider a shorter forearm assembly also.

That all depends on the OP's support hand technique. He might like being able to get out there on that longer rail.

To aid in the "heavier" front end, I'd recommend a more substantial aftermarket stock (can improve balance), and an aftermarket grip with improved ergos (helps improve control). If your rail is truly heavier than normal than I'm sure you could also find a lighter weight option.

Aside from that you're looking at a lighter weight barrel profile (new barrel).

That is very nice! What was your total outlay for the project?

I got a super deal in this build.

    Lower $50
    Lower kit $89
4 Magazines (traded for these so free)
Complete Upper a friend hooked me up with this one for free($529)
    Shipping $16
    FFL $10
So I'm out of pocket $165

I will be getting flip sights next week and a red dot right after that.

You could drive a train on that picatinny rail and end up in Ohio. Good job.

Yeah not what I was after but I like the look, not sure I can fill it up.

The lower kit is all pretty simple and it got me done. I will be watching the classified here and other sales so I can replace the hand grip and stock

Not knowing much about AR's, I'd always wondered why so many people build their own--this is a good reason!

    Congratulations! Hope you enjoy it.
