An old friend of mine sold me one of his three Colts this week. 1984 Colt Gold Cup, Series 80, National Match. The slide is blued and the lower is nickel. The nickel is starting to chip and wear in places. I looked around online and found a guy in Florida to refinish it for around $350.00. I was telling a buddy at work what I had and he told me to call Colt. Ten minutes later, $140.00 plus $30.00 shipping costs to get the gun redone. It will take 6-7 months but I don't care. This gun is beautiful and I want a awesome finish. F.Y.I., I paid $400.00 for the gun. Did I get a good deal? I think so. The gun feels really tight. :):

Link not working... also, easier if you take the URL of the actual pic and press the [IMG]https://www.indianagunowners.com/forums/images/styles/Greenstar/editor/insertimage.gif and just place the URL there

If it is all Gold Cup, then you got a spectacular deal.

That's some serious patience to wait that long for the refinish, but I would think it would turn out great by sending it back to Colt.

That is a great deal on a great gun. I am sure this will be the beginning of the 1911 disease :)

That's one hell of a deal.... And again welcome to the Colt 1911 club. I've got my Defender in the shop getting throated for hollow point shooting. Once I get it back the 70 series Commander is going in to get some TLC. Well over 7000 rounds just from me, don't know what the first owner put through it and was my carry for 20 plus years.
