I have a Jennings J-22 similar in design to that Bryco .380, and when you shoot it with ammo it doesn't like, the slide flies off.
Jennings, Bryco, Davis Industries...were all the same company, manufacturing p.o.s. handguns out of a strip mall in California back in the 1980's and '90's.
At one point atf found multiple handguns walking out the back door WITHOUT serial numbers!
I think that was the straw that broke the camels back.

Before that they would produce trash handguns that often came apart or blew up.
Lawsuits followed so what to do?
Change the name and continue making trash...
Rinse and repeat until the feds shut them down for good.

I almost want to ask for a couple of them, to disable them and give them away as presents to a couple friends and one in law....i just know he would appreciate a non functional hipoint. I know it! It would make Christmas so special....for me.

Then again the inlaw does carry a sig, that is reliable....so maybe it would not be THAT funny.

I had a bryco 380 with a loose barrel that I chopped in bits and trashed.
Just total junk I didn't want to let anyone else get hurt on.

    "Mr. Saturday night's so special,
He's got a barrel that's blue and gold.
    Ain't good for nothin'
But put a man 6 feet in a hole..."
Hand guns are made for killin'
They ain't no good for nothin' else
And if you like to drink your whiskey
    You might even shoot yourself
