There's very little information here so it's hard to say. Hoping Denny or BBI weighs in.

But your post reads like a red light runner complaining, "Why are you pulling me over?! There's murderers out there!"

I know players from both teams. This is about intellectual property theft and it seems like a civil matter. Not sure why the Fed is involved. There has to be more here than meets the eye.
