I've been wanting to get more into my shooting hobby, after many years of neglecting it....but I'm wanting my family to get involved with me also.
I'm wanting to know if you guys could suggest something for the family that's more "organized" etc....especially for my kids.
I emailed the NRA regarding the Eddie Eagle program for kids, and they referred me to the Columbus police dept.....that'd be great but I was kind of wanting a more of a grass roots program etc.
    Any thoughts??
Just hopping in my mini van for a range day is fine....but something more formal would be great IMHO.....I've heard from people that somehow people organize shooting with the whole family somewhere, with picnics etc.
I think my kids would be thrilled to death if we showed up at a place with a bunch of kids and parents for a day of shooting, but with some kind of formal supervision would be nice and fun I think.
    Thanks!!

I don't know about the area that you are in, but Johnson County 4-H has a shooting sports program. I personally don't have any information about it other than it exists

Appleseed and 4-H shooting sports are both great for kids. There is an Appleseed link on the main page, in the Support our Sponsors section, right above the classified ads.

Definitely APPLESEED. I have taken my family. Good clean shooting instruction with a history lesson. You can't beat it. Should be a required as part of PE class for high schoolers with a test afterward.

I've heard of the Appleseed program from a buddy of mine at work, but never thought anything about it.
Idk if my kids would like it or not...I'd say they would

The Hamilton County 4-H shooting sports program is good for families. I spent 10 years as a 4-Her in the program. Now I help out as an instructor. The kids learn a lot and have a great time doing it! Parents are encouraged to come and participate as well. That is just our county. I would guess others are good also.
