    The 1911 with the lightest recoil is the one that shoots your light reloads.

    Factory rounds in 45/230gr tend to have a higher recoil impulse with the factory powders....load up some 200 grain bullets with some clays and recoil is softer than any factory 9mm Ive ever shot.

    But as others have said...go with the biggest, heaviest one you can find for less recoil...AMT 7" longslide anyone(terminator)?
