-Any time you switch to a new piece of hardware, there's an adjustment period. A red dot isn't fire and forget any more than a scope or irons, it just makes certain aspects of aiming easier (fewer planes of focus than irons, wider FOV and faster acquisition than a scope).
-Make sure the dot is in the center of the optic, while they say "no parallax, no focus", that's not entirely true and if you're off-center with the dot, the shots will wander.
