The leftist-elites must see the "emotion" draining out of their push for new and severe anti-2A legislation recently. So they have rallied up their "sheep" from Newtown to go to Washington and try to infuse some emotions into the mix:

Sandy Hook Families Spark Emotion In Gun Control Debate

They already have helped push through the nation's most restrictive firearms law, which Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, D-Conn., signed Thursday.

With no lobbying background and fueled by the power of their emotions, a group of Sandy Hook Elementary School families can take credit for helping shape the measure as it moved through the state Legislature.

At least this article is honest that they are attempting to use the "power of their emotions" here.

If conservatives exploited people who suffered a tragedy as these people have, they would be run out of town!

Of course the Constitution or the 2A are TOTALLY irrelevant to these people:

Their goal of their personal appeals is to speak to every senator who has yet to express support for the gun legislation, and to show how the Dec. 14 shooting has affected their lives.

"I'm not a constitutional scholar and I'm not a Second Amendment specialist," David Wheeler, who lost his 6-year-old son, Benjamin, said in a telephone interview.

"I don't know the ins and outs of gun policy but I know ...," his voice trailed off as a sob catches in his throat. "But I now know one of the things that no father should ever know. And in our system of representative government we have to use our voices."

Bottom line: The Constitution does NOT matter, the law does not matter. What matters is that I FEEL AS THOUGH SOMETHING MUST BE DONE!

This is why the founders made the Constitution HARD to change! We must NEVER allow our nation to be run by EMOTION!

Please don't underestimate how powerful this tactic is! Combat "emotional pleas" with REASONED ARGUMENTS!

I too have emotions about Newtown. Tragic loss and thinking of each of the kids tugs at my heart strings.

But I also have strong emotions concerning the rights provided by the 2nd Amendment. I am thankful that our founding fathers had long serious and thoughtful debates when they drafted the Constitution. Could you imagine our elected officials trying to draft such a document. They would have to vote it into law first so they could find out what it said.

The FACT of the matter is, the lost of innocent lives at Newtown (or anywhere in my opinion, and I'm guessing, yours as well) is tragic.

The ADDITIONAL FACT, if Newtown (or Aurora, Colorado, etc.) would've had one, just one, armed and trained individual at that location, at that time, those tragedies would NOT have happened.

Save one (Tuscon, AZ - Gabby Giffords), EVERY OTHER mass shooting in the last 50+ years has taken place in a gun free zone.

Gee, 'Mr. & Ms. Whackjob Anti-2A', I wonder why that is...? :ugh:

We need a 'DUH!' emoticon for this forum, LOL... :D
