I went to Elmore's yesterday and was very amazed.
It looked like a going out of business fire sale.
There were fully 2/3's of the guns gone.
The myriad of pistols he usually has was reduced to less than 75.
    No ammo in the shelves.

Are all gun stores looking like this now a days?

I guess it depends on what the majority of the items are. Ammo is flying off the shelves. I think it's slowed down a bit but it's still disappearing quickly. Of course AR mags and ARs themselves don't even sit around long enough to collect dust.

Plainfield Shooting Supplies was about the same when I was there two weeks ago. There were 10-15 handguns in the case and just a handful of long guns.

Guys....right now, dealers have no inventory and have little chance of getting more anytime soon. If you wonder why their prices are so high on what little they do have to sell, this is the reason. These guys have a lease to pay, a mortgage to pay, payroll to meet, a life to live, etc., and have no reason to believe they will be able to get inventory anytime soon. There is no inventory to buy. Period. They have to make every dime off of what they have in stock. They may not see new inventory for months and that means nothing new to sell for months. Nonetheless, their lease, their home mortgage, their payroll, and many other expenses, must be paid each and every month. Right now, dealers have no choice but to get every dime out of every piece they have in inventory. The next 3-6 months will likely put many of the Indy area dealers out of business.

Ummm...if they go out them it's due to **** poor management. Sorry but if you sell your inventory for the entire year you still made the same amount of cash. And some dealers raised prices and made a killer year.

zactly, they want to turn inventory to make money, not just sell it once.

sell replace, sell replace, sell replace.......

The trouble is the replace part, time wise and price wise.

And it's tough to keep part-time employees when there is nothing to sell. Bubbles are not a great windfall to a shop that some believe.
