Anyone know how I can keep tabs on the election of Ripley County online. I can't hear the radio so that's out, and I don't have a TV.
I get all my information from phone and computer.

Only paper is the "grocery receipt" thing above the red button where you check your selections before pressing the button to vote. We don't have to handle any paper.
Boone County has these as well. I like the addition of the paper printer. So long as the paper is considered the final arbiter of a dispute in count, I like it.

I am utterly against purely electronic voting. I had a coder acquaintance once who was adamant that no electronic voting system with closed code, and that did not produce a physical record, should ever be trusted. His point was that no purely electronic system could ever be adequately secured to prevent manipulation, and that in the absence of a physical record which was the final arbiter of any disputes, trust in elections would be damaged.

I think, twenty plus years later, he hit the nail on the head.

Its necessary to allow us to vote anywhere in the county. That lets the machine generate the ballot on the fly. Pre-printed ballots would either require you to vote in only one place, or they'd have to overprint* and send enough copies of every single ballot to every single polling location.

*I'm sure cheaters would LOOOOOOVE this option.
In Bloomington I recall the ballots being printed on demand and manually filled in.

I do prefer something be on paper, though. At least make someone shred em by hand instead of push a button. Being able to hit a location near work instead of grinding down to the city county building was indeed nice.

Exactly. I can make ones and zeroes disappear silently without anyone seeing anything. Grabbing a box of paper ballots on the other hand...

Voted ~9:30 at the local American Legion (bar was Closed)

Lady ahead of me was sent Home for not having her State ID

They took my Drivers License and set it on a Ipad with a Special Bracket - scanned it and brought up my Voter Information on the screen - which I Confirmed & Signed with a stylus - it printed out a Grocery Receipt

I was 4th in line for the 3 voting machines

Gave my Grocery Receipt to the worker - who escorted me to the machine and put a Plastic Card in the top slot - which reset the Machine for my use

Made my selections ( 5 screens ) then Final screen instruction to Press the RED button

    They had stickers & lollipops-

I was cheated! Same proces, equipment, and a sticker, but no lollipop!

I voted at the y in Marion after work. About a 20 minute wait. Woman came in with a stack of campaign materials, I flagged a worker down and let her know. Lady argued that she has a first amendment right to have those. The worker handled it really well. I've voted every time since I was 17 and got my very first sticker today.

I voted on my way home from work, got there about 2:45 and was out by 2:52. No line, maybe 3 other people voting while I was there.

I was a little disappointed that there was no electioneering going on, I love telling the dims that I never vote for any dim.

I walked into a democrat shark attack on the way in I responded with "are you republican or libertarian?" They say "no and I say "save it for the next guy thanks"
