Yes, said so as I mentioned bag man. Or, is that more an English term?

    Touche'!

So does the county health board that sets ordinances regarding throwing trash in your lawn. But just look at all the running around the conference table that those ordinances cause on INGO.
And whose sole province is it to enforce those county ordinances? It couldn't be 'GASP' the sheriff?

Who is prosecuting the Connorsville PD officer who kept the deer? Would that be some sort of county official or another? Fargo? Cobber? Would you guys happen to know who is prosecuting that case? Some sort of ATF bureaucrat no doubt, right?
Some DPA from Decatur County who was foolish/unlucky enough to let himself get appointed to what appears to be a smoking turd of a case???

Because they live next door to you and can make your life absolutely miserable.
Ain't that the truth!!! I just wish Kirk lived closer to me.:D

The other county Chief Law Enforcement Officer may have a different opinion.

Who is tellin you this? What did you read to lead you to this opnion?

I don't know about Indiana, but in Illinois, the top cop in a county is the Sheriff. (No one higher) In most cases, local law enforcement may call on the Sheriff's Dept. for assistance, but if it comes down to it, County wins the toss. (But, usually don't interfere with local issues.)

Good thing a DPA from Decatur County is not a county employee. That fed, DPA, is making life rough from that officer.

Ain't that the truth!!! I just wish Kirk lived closer to me

No, you don't, besides I am punished with many ex-girlfriends who are picking up your slack.

I don't know about Indiana, but in Illinois, the top cop in a county is the Sheriff. (No one higher)

The top cop in Illinois is called the State's Attorney. In Indiana we call the top cop the Prosecuting Attorney.

The Sheriff in Illinois as well as Indiana are the hands of the courts.

Why the Sheriff is suddenly some sort of paladin, I remain without clue.

The whole point being made with this thread is that Sheriffs across the country are outspoken about proclaiming in a public forum their intentions to honor their Oath to Defend the Constitution which includes the 2nd Amendment and also their respective state constitutions.

In my opinion, these Sheriffs because they are elected by the people and because they represent a threat (perhaps a minor threat) to Federal enforcement of un-Constitutional Laws they have/and will become targeted by liberals/progressives/socialists in power in their respective states.

Obviously, this Oath to Defend the Constitution and the Constitution itself has/is being trivialized to the point that no on takes it serious.

I have heard of no other Law Enforcement Agencies step forward and publically state their allegience to the 2nd Amendment or to the Constitution for that matter.

Yes, State Legislatures control the Sheriffs. Each State is different as to the legislation concerning the Sheriffs Department.

I believe perhaps naively that governments closest to We the People should be SUPREME (States) if only for the reason of control.

I also believe that militarized police forces such as Home Land Security, FEMA, TSA, VIPRE, ATF, NSA and 100s of other agencies with arrest powers are infringing upon the privacy and Constitutional rights of US Citizens!

DHS now has more sworn armed federal law enforcement agents and officers than any other department of the United States government. 200 thousand employees and growing!

Again... if you believe that Home Land Security the largest military police force in the United Staes exists to protect your 2nd Amendment rights or any other Constitutional right then I guess this country is in deeper trouble than I have guessed!

I will stick with the local sheriff because I can vote him out and also have a little more control over his boss which is the Indiana State Legislature.

Separation of powers doesn't set well with Dictators. Everything is done by execuitive fiat.

Don't disagree with much of what you've said, but keep in mind that the number of sheriffs who have spoken up represent way less than 1% of those in the country.

Unsurprisingly I don't know of a single one on the East coast who has piped up. Rather all the outspoken ones are in the west where ragging on the feds helps you get re-elected.

IMO this thing in Delaware has NOTHING to do with an attempt to suppress the sheriff because he is somehow preserving the U.S. Constitution from tyranny. Rather it is a pissing match based on disputed LE territory; almost identical to the one going on in Marion County between the sheriff and IMPD as we speak.

@Kirk, from doing some digging, I think it traces back to a misinterpretation of a cherrypicked piece of language in the Mack and Printz v US decision.

I agree and admit that I ran with the Delaware Sheriff fiasco after just reading one article about it. I think I corrected that somewhere in this thread.

That is an interesting point about posturing for re-election and probably hits it right on the nose!

    Thanks,

    Mike
