Then we did some research. It turns out that DSC gets their blades & handles from Dorco USA. This is their web site: DORCO - Disposable Razors, Shaving Systems, Shavers, 6 Blade, Blades, Cartridges, Cartridge, Mens, Womens
.
You get a month out of a Proglide? I can't get 4 days and I have had laser.I've been a long time Gillette Fusion and now Gillette Fusion ProGlide user. With the ProGlide I can shave 1 month on one blade, without
tearing myself up, but still the cost for 4 refills is steep, but I still like the shave I get with it.
After looking into this a bit before this thread started, I found out about DSC getting their blades from Dorco, so I had a little bit in my PayPal account and decided to get the Dorco Pace 6 blade razor with trimmer. I dropped $17.00 for 1 razor with 2 blades and 2 individual 4 packs after finding a online dicount code that saved me some $$$'s.
I thought what the heck, even if I only get 2 weeks out of each blade, I'm still doubling the amount I can shave for the same money.
Well I'm starting the third week on the 6 blader, still trying to get used to it a bit because it does not pivot as much as my ProGlide, but I have not cut myself, gives me a clean shave and so I think it is a great deal.
After this week is over, I'm throwing new blades on both the Dorco and my ProGlide and will shave 3 days on the left side with the Dorco and the right with the ProGlide and then swap sides for the rest of the week.
One thing to note, under my right jaw line, it has always been very sensitive for me to shave there, and use the sensitive skin formula of the Gillette Series Gel to help prevent irritation. So far just a slight bit of that, but I think it just might be me getting used to the new blades because of only having about a 65 degree pivot instead of the ProGlides 85 degree.
If anybody is interested, here's a 15% discount to try it out, only good till the end of the day March 31st.

One thing to note that I did not mention above, Dorco does not require you to purchase like DSC, buy what you want, and when you want to, not locked into anything like DSC.
I dove in, just waiting for stuff to arrive. If I decide to stick with it, I have my eye on a vintage Gillette Fatboy.
"Nickel shave club" FTW!!

My dad learned to shave with a DE blade, and I've used one for over a decade. $30 bought me roughly 15 years worth of blades.
If you love an old school safety razor, go ahead and try a cutt throat straight razor. Learning curve takes about 2 weeks to get a decent shave, 100 for mastery. But after a couple weeks you will get hooked on that as well.Just had my first shave with my new safety razor and I'll never go back. I used to despise shaving, this was an entirely new experience.

I lol'd at that as well... A month!?!? Only if it's November.
I can't get 5 days out of them.

I shave in the shower, with regular bar soap, and do it by feel. How would a safety razor work in that setting?
So the consensus is that DSC is just a middle man charging higher prices for acting as a middle man then?
