I have a Democrat friend who signed up his family of 3 for Insurance on an Exchange. It was well north of ridiculous. I can't remember exactly, but I think his monthly costs are in the $700ish range.

    Well meaning idiots.

Not enough people were actually listening when Barry was campaigning. In general terms, he told us what he was going to do to us and how he was going to change us to fit his idea of what this country should be. This included $5/gallon gasoline which drives up the prices of everything else. I clearly heard him say that, but not enough other voters who thought that el presidente was going to give them lots of things for nothing were listening or even cared to listen as they were concentrating too hard on their own situation. Just sit back and think about all the bad things barry has done to each of us and this country. I do not think that it could be any worse if he were doing all these bad things intentionally.

Exactly. I listened and tried to relay his intentions but that fell on deaf ears. The for "Free" thing kept coming up.
He has attempted (and succeeded) with everything he promised except shutting down coal. He is gaining ground there as well.
Liberals are well meaning idiots. Take it or don't.

Do you have any concept of how much health care costs? Covering 3 people for $700/mo is a good deal. One problem with the old system was that it masked the true costs.

I'm willing to bet that most of those who are criticizing the program have always had employer-paid health care (and have no idea how much it actually costs), have never lost their health insurance because of a job loss, and have never tried to find insurance on their own when they have a pre-existing condition.

While there is a lot that could have been done better (and I hate it when care is called "free"), we had reached a point where the existing system was brutal and inhumane for a substantial portion of our citizens. We had over 20 years to fix it, but there was no negotiation in good faith. This is the result.

The deacon at my church is a doctor. We spoke a little about OC yesterday. He said he is planning to get out of the healthcare system early because of it. I mentioned that if the dems lose maybe OC will get repealed. He said its too late, the damage is done and will be very difficult to fix at this point, he said that's why he's getting out (retiring) early.

Before the Liar-In-Chief was elected in 2008, ANYONE who wanted to know ANYTHING about him could have EASILY researched his garbage, and his true intentions.

ANYONE, at this point, even remotely 'defending' Obamacare at this point NEEDS Obamacare, to have their head examined. Any inference that it is, or was ever meant to be 'cheaper' or 'provide for the uninsured' is beyond conspiracy theory lunacy, LOL... :tinfoil:

Despite his oratory rhetoric, Obama's never made a 'secret' of exactly what he is: A Socialist / Communist radical activist with quite 'hardcore' anti-American leanings. He doesn't like the 'set-up' in this country, he doesn't like that Americans (in his view) are more 'privileged' than those in third world s***holes, and he's determined to 'cut America down to size'.

He's never made any bones about that, and almost every miserable failure and scandal that's saturated his Administration was vehemently promoted by him in his early activist days, and it hasn't changed one iota. Any 'casual' research into his background would've exposed that, easily.

So, America got exactly what they voted for, NO 'surprises' at all. And not to worry, he has more America destructive 'surprises' left before he's gone, if the citizens don't push hard to curtail his antics.

Were you asleep in 2009? Initially, the House D majority tried to include Rs in the discussion. (Never mind that most of the bill echoed previous R proposals.) It soon became obvious that Rs had no interest in discussing anything - they were simply trying to indefinitely delay the process. Despite what Faux News has brainwashed you with, there WAS interest in having bipartisan support. Had the Rs been willing to participate rather than obstruct, the outcome would have been different, and probably better.

If you don't want anything they were going to pass why would you want to be involved in an negotiation?

The NonAfforable Care Act is all on DEMOCRATS! Republicans had NOTHING to do with the current nightmare!

The lack of specificity in this thread is telling.

The Republican alternative was and is even dumber.

I'm not defending Obamacare as good policy. I'm saying that going after "dumb liberals" on this is just partisan rambling.

The Republican alternatives that I have briefly read have been so unserious that it makes me question whether they even want their own bills to pass, instead taking refuge in monday morning QB'ing all the flaws in Obamacare just in time for primary season.

Both sides are equally complicit in my opinion. Even supporters of Obamacare have big problems with it. This issue hits just about everybody right in the pocket, directly. If the right had come up with a serious alternative the appetite for it would have been overwhelming. They didn't, and there isn't.

The inability of those to see that government intervention was what created cost shifting and think more government control would "fix' the problems in the healthcare industry is what is crazy.
Wonder if they think more government control of guns will fix gun crime issues?

    Bipartisan support for what, exactly?

Do you have any understanding of what has created this outrageous health care system that we now enjoy?

Apparently, you didn't bother to look up and understand what the republican alternatives actually were. I guess it's much easier to just regurgitate what your masters at MSNBC tell you than to actually think for yourself.

Due to my many ailments I get to talk to a lot of folks in the healthcare industry. Not ONE has said anything positive about Obamacare. Going back, I could have seen (reluctantly) a plan to help the uninsured that would fit seamlessly with the status quo. Obamacare goes light years beyond that. Thousands of pages of how they want to control our lives. Any guesses as to what they will do to us next?

Yesterday my wife was at our primary physician for a routine checkup. He said he would like her to fill out a mood level questionnaire. He mentioned it was part of this abomination. My wife refused to fill it out.

Which particular version would you like me to destroy?

There have been about ten, all of them failed to get momentum (and every single one of them is "socialized medicine," by the way).

As Karl Rove said in February, "Republicans can easily pick apart [Obamacare], but they won't win over voters without their own ideas." (Karl Rove: Democrats Change Their ObamaCare Strategy - WSJ)

Let's see if you can manage to reply without making a personal attack because you're anonymous and it's easy. My money says you can't do it.

To argue that the Republican "response" to Obamacare is simply do nothing because "we don't need an alternative" is perfectly fine, but understand that you disagree with over 90% of your fellow Americans. The previous path was already a combination of corporate welfare and inefficient socialized medicine. Socialized medicine is what we had all along (since 1986, anyway), we just called it something else. If you think that way was better than Obamacare fair enough. But it's always been socialized medicine. Understanding this context is vital in order to have a serious conversation about healthcare in the US.
