Do you carry a full magazine + one in the chamber?

I am a throw back..i still carry a full size 1911 combat. I only get 7 in the mag..why not one more in the chamber.

Waste not..want not. Ill waste not the space and be left wanting that 8th round some day.

My EDC guns carry 6+1 or 7+1 depending on which one I am carrying. The more I can get, the better. Plus at least one spare mag in either case. As with carrying in general, "I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it".

If you can overcompress the springs merely by loading them to capacity, your magazines were poorly designed. Find another brand.

Except, of course, for jobs that require 20.

Lucky for us, we always know the details of what every future "job" will require.

Full mag + 1 + spare mag. When I carry my glock 26 sometimes I opt to carry a G19 mag as a spare. Why not?

I always add one, just in case, plus 2 extra magazines usually.
With a 1911, every extra round helps. Although I do practice often, so if I need to reload, something seriously wrong is happening...lol

And apparantly, the extra round is SO heavy, it's not worth the sweat I would generate carrying it.
