Homeowner's gun misfires, but the burglar(s) ran off anyway. With several millions in loot. Yes. Millions.

Buzbee, who hosted a Super Bowl party Sunday at his River Oaks mansion, awoke at 6 a.m. Monday and found someone in his home, he said in a Facebook post.

The thief made off with several million dollars’ worth of artwork and jewelry, a Houston police spokesperson said.

Buzbee was armed and attempted to shoot the burglar, he said, but his gun misfired. Buzbee’s two children were home at the time, but nobody was injured.
If he can afford millions in artwork he can afford to replace his current gun with a Glock.

So....gated home, sauna in his bathroom, workout room that would be welcome in a hotel; and he can't afford or use a security system or a firearm that works? Take note if you can vote for him as your mayor, more money than brains. Then again, maybe he needed the insurance money for his campaign.

This happened back in April 2018 but I don't think it is in this thread:

    New Orleans Waffle House: https://www.nola.com/crime/index.ssf/2018/04/waffle_house_armed_robbery_sus.html

Two armed robbers try to knockover a Waffle House. When one of the robbers approaches a customer, customer draws his weapon and that robber flees. The other robber points his gun at customer, who starts shooting at that robber, who also flees. Later a vehicle matching description of getaway vehicle pulls up outside a hospital and drops off one of the robbers full of bullet holes.

We interrupt the Houston-trying-to-become-the-Chicago-of-Texas show to bring you this episode from Dallas:

Carjacking suspect taken into custody, hospitalized after chase in Dallas

Man’s Bloody, Erratic Run From Police Ends In His Arrest

The two stories conflict a little bit in some details, but in general, police responded to call for woman being threatened at a hotel. Suspect jumped out of window, carjacked an SUV and then wrecked it, tried to steal another car, hopped a wall, invaded a residence via the opengarage door, was chased back into the garage by an armed homeowner, and got shot a couple or three times by police, buying himself a ride to the hospital. He started out with body armor and a gun and ended up shirtless, armed with a knife, tattooed, and bleeding through new orifices. I think the tattoos were pre-existing condition tho.

Just read that one. Based on the limited info in the article, she didn't follow many of the best firearm/self-defense practices, but I can't blame her at all. Still, it is a clear example that the firearm can be the great equalizer.

FYI- Don't know if any of you follow it, but if not you might be interested in the blog Gun Watch which publishes multiple DGU-related articles each day.

I guess "OfferUp" is an app that works somewhat like Craigslist, bring buyers and sellers together. And robbers and won't-be victims, apparently.

In Galveston County, Texas. a man with LTC found something he wanted on OfferUp. Met with seller, 17yo who tried to rob man and got shot instead. Lifeflighted to hospital, died anyway.

Article says sheriff's office believe man fired in self-defense.

Well, at 79 she might be less concerned with some things, like the law getting upset about a "warning" shot.
