My 2009 buck taken 35 minutes into firearms season. Officially scored at 150 0/8" gross, 144 5/8" net -- my third largest buck. I'm pretty sure that he was the velvet-antlered buck I'd seen a half mile from the kill location at 7:54 PM on Friday, July 24, 2009. I knew then that I wanted him and started looking for a spot on the topo map that would expose his vulnerability. I found just that spot at the head of a steep draw that deer would walk above instead of crossing.
