Likely fled the rising water, and a predator got it.

I've got all kinds of critters on the move, thanks to the rain. A herd of chipmunks was displaced from under my neighbor's now-flooded shed.

Ditto.. My yard is riddled with them.. Used the poison worms. Going to put the grub control down but was afraid that it is going to be washed away.. Any thoughts?. Thanks

My youngest pup likes to take care of them. She had the chipmunk twice but got bored with it when it played dead and it ran off. Can't seem to catch it with a live trap either :(

Open some 16 oz. cans of whatever with a can opener. Remove the lids and take them out to active runs. (find active runs by tramping them down late in the day and check next day for ones pushed back up) Place the lids in the center of the runs parallel to the run and push them down until they just clear the surface. Put a marker of some kind at each location so you can find them later. As the moles go down the runs the lids slice their backs and they bleed to death. Slow and painful as requested. Got rid of a yard full in one season. I spray now each spring for grubs and they have not returned in over 15 years.

I like the old fashioned way. Sit in a lawn chair with a 12GA and wait for the ground to move. One of my cats will sit and watch the ground moving when one is active. I keep an eye on her when I can't sit in the chair for extended periods.

    .
Those are good traps as well, lived in a neighborhood full of nosy small dogs so that wasn't an option for me.

    Did you skin it out?

I use traps from themoletrap.com work very well and they are American made. Pet and child safe.

These work best for me as well. Even better than the harpoon type traps.
I was also concerned about neighbors dogs and the harpoon traps.
You can get the traps from the website Leadeye posted, but I got mine at Tractor Supply.

I use the poison worms, but have never tried this.
