In a conversation with some friends and the topic of CC and dating. I said that I would carry on a first date and my friend said she would be either worried or excited.

I was wondering what people think about CCing while on first dates. Would you carry on the first date? If you do carry on the first date what has been the reaction?

I OC on dates. Takes the guesswork out. ;)

Now that I'm married we often OC together on dates. If you are worried about girls being afraid of guns you are going after the wrong girls. :twocents:

If carrying is part of who you are, then I would not change just for a date. Why give the wrong impression? I'd rather learn about baggage up front. The whole point if dating is to find someone you are compatible with, and then maybe more.

Heck, I'd take her shooting on a first date.

The shooting first date would be a LOT of fun.. and a good way to weed out the women scared of guns. I don't bring up that I (when I get one) CC. I would like to have that surprise if things go very bad.

Mine won't either but I did carry on our first date ah several years ago didn't seem to matter been married about 30 years :D
Did you're wife catch you and did she have a good reaction?

Back in college I managed to sleep with the VP of the College Democrats 3 times before she noticed I was carrying. Glock 19 strongside IWB with 2 spare mags at that.

Granted, most people are oblivious, and I'm of the "gray man" school, but I do carry everywhere. Why change your routine for a first date? The first rule of dating is "be yourself," right?

    I'm an equal opportunity lover.

Besides, that collaboration really annoyed the the president of the college dems and ended with her splitting and becoming a pro-gun libertarian. All-around win. You can't get converts if you don't occasionally reach across the aisle and do some fondling.

If firearms are part of who you are, what you hold dear, and what you enjoy then yes i would definitely continue to CC/OC at a date.

If she opposes them, has a phobia or negative reaction, or just hates them mindlessly, then I can pretty much guarantee that no matter how much we may get along on other things it won't work out.

I always think the going to a range on a first date sounds like fun.

I would CC for a few dates and sprinkle in some random gun talk such as thoughts about gun control etc. This should give you a chance to get her views on the subject.

You should let her know that you CC right off. How would you feel if you decided to leave you gun at home or locked up in your vehicle and while you were escorting her you put your hand on her lower back or hip and found out he was carrying. I would think that might would be your last date with her. Now if you was one of those CC'ers that like to carry a Dirty Harry .44 mag. than that might just impress her. :woot:

I brought it up before the first date, so they know. Its a huge part of who i am, and what i enjoy doing. I would say carry if you are comfortable carrying. Good luck with you on the whole dating thing.

My wife and I both carry wherever we go also. Most of the time I'm OC and she's Half CC (OWB with shirt pulled over)

But If I were dating I would OC on the first date also.
