I didn't vote because the options did not include Gen III models. That being said, for strictly conceal carry purposes, I would go with the Glock 26...much easier to conceal!

My next handgun purchase will be a G26. The subcompact offers more options for concealment than the 19. You can make the grip of a 26 longer but you can't make a 19 shorter.

Well in that case he should be looking at an m&p compact or a shield :):

I love the m&p 9s but I have to say I'm not that impressed with my shield, it doesn't shoot as well as I'd like and I hate the safe action trigger that's split across the middle. The new baby glock 42 is more accurate and more comfortable, but I just don't like 380s.

    Yeah the .380 is the reason I didn't buy a 42. When they make a 9 I'll buy it.
i haven't shot a 42 so I can't comment on accuracy. But damn my 2 shields are very accurate!! And even a friend I loaned one to said its the most accurate gun he's ever fired. Maybe you got a dud? It happens. Id send it in

Um... Sure you can. People do it all the time. I personally don't get why they WANT to, but they do.

I usually recommend the G19 because most people with G26/27's end up putting a mag/pinky extension on which ends up making it the same grip length as a G19, but with lower capacity.
The slide/barrel length usually doesn't make any difference because most people carry IWB.
The main benefit to the G26/27 is the weight savings, but you also sacrifice capacity.
The G19 is more comfortable to shoot for extended periods like at shooting schools or when you spend all day at the range shooting 500+ rounds, etc...

I feel like another thing that doesn't get brought up a lot when comparing the G26 to G19 is the weight. I know it isn't a ton but the G26 is significantly lighter and I feel that makes it more comfortable for me. I carry both but when my outfit is more minimal then I tend to go with the G26. However, to what I said about less weight, there are also fewer rounds...Just my 2 cents.

Difference unloaded is less than 2 ounces, comparing both Gen4 pistols... That's "significantly lighter"?

Both :) 19 is easy to conceal and is just perfect in my opinion. The 26 is great for super deep concealment and thus a great BUG.

Imagine you're 5'10 145 - 150 lbs, male or female and you'd like to carry iwb with a crossbreed style holster @4 o'clock

    Glock 19 g4 or 26 g4

You want it to conceal well, not show through your jeans (into your butt!)

You also want the most effective weapon that will meet these requirements.

You can only choose between the two glocks.

Well there certainly should be, however that seems to be the prime motivator more often than not.

Apparently, one of the prime considerations in carry is how your butt looks. :ugh:

I am 5'8" and 145lbs. I carry the G26 in a Crossbreed super tuck. It is very comforatable. I also have the G19, which is a great gun. I like to G26 for EDC, it just a little smaller and easier to EDC:twocents:

I'm 6'1 170ish and I carry my G19 just fine although with your body type it's not always what you carry but how you carry. OC and carry a G17. Or appendix carry a G19. If its in the 4 O'clock carry the G26. Or carry the G26 and a backup G17 mag. Most engagements are within 7yds and use less than 3rds. Carry what you shoot best. If you have smaller hands the G26 is a fine pistol. The longer the grip the better recoil management.
