I have to decide between these two rifles , and its a hard decision to make.A older winchester 52c which parts may be hard to get , or a BNIB CZ 457 VARMINT in 22lr.I am using it for groundhogs , chipmunks , and a careless coyote.I would appreciate your opinions, any of them, thanks in advance.

I purchased a CZ 457 Varmint about a year ago. I also own a CZ 455 American. I'm very happy with both, but REALLY like the Varmint better.

I have always wanted a 52 C but never had the money when one was available. I do have a 75 but have never shot it. Having shot numerous CZ rimfires I recently got a deal on a 457 MTR. Beautiful rifle and I’m hoping it shoots to the standards of my other CZs.

I like my CZ 457 Varmint a lot. High quality fit and finish and the trigger is pretty good too. I put mine in a Boyd's varmint stock which is a big improvement over the factory stock.

I would lean to the 52c myself. The 457 looks pretty and all but the 52c seems ready to go (and I am not a fan of heavy barrels).

Does anyone make a cz 52c? That would solve the dilemma. :runaway:

    Pssst, 52c for the win.

I am planning on shooting them at chipmunks , tin cans, opossum, and maybe at a stupid coyote if it gets close.I dont see shooting matches at this time , but I like cool looking accurate rifles.

FWIW my CZ457 American .22 magnum is a half incher at 50 yards.
    Pleasantly surprised.
    Benched w reg 3-9X scope at 6X.
Trigger adjusted but still not as good as I'd like.
Gun feels long, think bbl is 24". Think it'd handle better if 22".
But shoots good so I aint messin with it.

I own both. The Winchester is harder to find and more expensive. But also a classic and better shooter than the CZ. That said. Unless you’re shooting BR50 the CZ will be fine in most cases.
