Basically you just schedule an appointment at one of their locations and then they electronically fingerprint you and you can go straight to your police department and finish your application. I got my carry license in 9 days through L-1. One of my friends did it the traditional way and it took 2 months. Compare those and it's obvious which is the better option even if you have to pay $10 more.

This is no joke! I got mine in 9 days also. Well worth the extra $10.

Update...

I already got mine!! 4/26 I applied online. 4/27 I got fingerprinted (by L-1) and went to the Greenfield PD to pay them. Got the license in the mail this morning, 4/30.

4/19 - online application and schedule L-1 fingerprinting
4/20 - fingerprint and visit local PD to complete process, throw lots of cash at them
5/2 - LTCH arrived in the mail

Seems like the best way to go about this is to complete the form online first then go to local PD for fingerprinting and payment?

I used the online application/electronic fingerprinting options, then went to the local PD for application submission. Got mine in 12 days from start to finish. Rec'd mine 3/17/11

Yes to completing the form online however I would suggest the L-1 method seeing as this is much faster. When I went to my local PD they also took my index and thumb prints.

If you just pay fee and apply online you get it really fast filed mine on a Wed and got it that Sat not bad for 15 bucks.

Just did mine. I did online form, L 1 fingerprints, and local payment to sheriff in a
day. State fee paid when I Scheduled and paid for L 1 prints.
got permit in about a week give or take a couple days.
that was for a life time.

Went the L-1 route on line with a lifetime membership in Marion county. Took 5 business days. Impressive!

Applied via L-1 on 4-18, Didn't get fingerprinted until 4-23 because of my work schedule. Paid my local fee on 4-25. Received my LTCH today 5-5. Not bad considering some of the delay was my fault.

14th of April - Filed online application
18th April - Printed at L1
18th April - Turn in paperwork at sherrifs dept
3rd May - Bought first handgun - Beretta PX4 Storm
4th May - Got my LTCH in the mail!

4th May - Extremely happy citizen.

I paid with a card for the L1 and state fees online and a money order at my local facility.

Paying with credit card online is the fastest way to go.
