Do people really fall for this :poop:?

I had a few guitars I posted on CL and got this e-mail..

"Thanks for getting back to me, I appreciate it and just to let you know
I'm okay with the condition, the price and I'm ready for the purchase
plus I'm willing to add an extra $20 so as to have it reserved in my
favor. My form of payment will be by Check and it will be send via
courier service which will be delivered to you between 1-2days. I'll
be responsible for the pick-up besides the movers/pick up money will
be included with your payment so as to avoid delay and to enable
movers to schedule an appropriate time for the pick-up at your
location after the check is been cashed as I have other properties to
be moved alongside yours. I would have really loved to come for the
inspection but due to my work frame it just won't fit in my schedule
but more pictures will be deeply appreciated. Kindly get back to me
with your full name, mailing address not po box and phone number so as
to make out the payment to you ASAP. Many thanks
    "

I had one once and the check actually cleared.. I left it in my bank and called the actual business listed on the check and they said they would get back with me and never did... I ended up with free money

The grammar on these have actually gotten a lot better than they used to be. I bet he is a Prince of some exotic country. You should go for it

You're lucky, usually it's a bogus check or closed account something along those lines you end up stuck with the returned check fee.

CL is a case study in human stupidity.

In "negotiations" as I type with someone who wants to talk me down on the outdoor playhouse I have listed. My price--the lowest one for the TWO available in the Indy-Chicago metro areas--isn't a good enough deal. She wants the kind of deal her mother-in-law got.

Last year, I got two of those emails in one day. I had a great time messing with the young man. One IP was in London, another in Detroit and the third just over the bridge in Canada.

He sent two money orders that were almost perfect bymail. The company that was printed on the fake money orders was very impressed with the fakes. I sent them to the postal inspector and never heard anymore about it.

His emails got better and better because I didn't send the overpayment amount back to him. I just kept claiming they never arrived and accused me of fraud............

I had some ass tell me my fender strat was worth half as much as my asking price. The dang thing was flawless but 5 years old.

I also filed a report with my pd and his for interstate fraud as he was misrepresenting himse;f.

When I told him pretty much why he was full of bs and where he lived, he quit sending me threats and stuff. Damn poor chicago-ans.

My friend Kathy placed an advertisement a couple years back.

She received a USPS money order in the mail before she shipped. Thankfully, I convinced her to verify its authenticity before shipping the items.

Long story short: Postal Inspectors located the forger, and introduced him to a whole new group of friends in a nice section of Terre Haute.
