    Great info SD4L.

But since you'll never see this, I'm not sure why I'm posting it.

But this is the internet, so we're all just Turing bots anyway.

Which means you're actually a bot.

    So take that!

Maybe all those corona virus survivors in the basement dweller category won't be able to breed.
    We can only hope.
Most likely what will happen is after mommy dies and doesn't feed them anymore they won't come up from playing video games and will likely starve on their own because by the time they realize something is wrong they wont have the skillset to even make a sandwich unless a video game teaches them

Eh, it's not all that fake. The man's wife who was able to puke up enough of the stuff survived. She said something to the effect that it was Trump's confidence in the cure that caused them to take it. It wasn't just a similarly named chemical. That is the name of the ingredient in the drug. But, to be fair, it's not sane to hear a president praise a drug and take that as an indicator that they should look for every household product that might have the same chemical in it. It's also fair to say that it may be the other things in the fish tank cleaner that killed the man. This is a valid complaint, and I don't want to overstate it, that Trump tends not to understand the weight of what he says as President. Especially for those who believe Trump is almost a god. And it seemed like these folks did when they thought he was saying this chemical would make them invincible against COVID19.

What did Forrest say? Stupid is as stupid does? These people are Darwin winners/candidates. Think first, then act.

And to put a finer point on it:

We lost 3.5% of the population to WWII. They estimate an ugly level of 6% for this outbreak worst case.

Which is worse? Losing 6% of the population, yet the world economy continues, more or less with a bit of a hiccup, allowing the survivors to continue to thrive and maintain a solid economy and good quality of life.

    Or

Doing everything possible to prevent every last death, at the expense of society as we know it? What's the use saving a relative handful* of humans that will be dead within a decade or two anyway if those that are left are worse off in the long term via a Great Depression 2.0? Will our kids barely scraping by MAYBE recovering by the 3rd decade after suffering the entire way, come out of this OK? will they have to rally around WWIII to jump start the economy? I dont know. What I do know is this smacks of the socialist/communist type groupthink that is save every last soul you can, even if it means every last one of us is miserable because of the policy. Heaven forbid somebody dies to allow someone else to live a blessed life... Gee, that sounds like a familiar story. I wonder where I might have heard it before? I'm sure if I wait a couple more weeks my pastor might remind me of that story.

*I have multiple factors that label me as high risk for this virus. So I'm coming at this as somebody that if I caught it I'm screwed at best with reduced lung capacity, Dead at worst. I'm not one of those that have no skin in the game and are most likely to escape without a scratch like some.

I have updated the spreadsheet with the latest numbers: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...F2nSBMG8kMCK6dQZXk8zxhBvXgyDgjgXJc_K7/pubhtml

I have seen a couple of posts advertising "CDC says coronavirus survived in Princess Cruise ship cabins for up to 17 days after passengers left". I hate to rain on what is nothing but sensationalism in the media, but that statement is not accurate. The full report is available for anyone to read, but why do that when you can post something inaccurate? The report can be found here: https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6912e3.htm?s_cid=mm6912e3_w

    From the report:
SARS-CoV-2 RNA was identified on a variety of surfaces in cabins of both symptomatic and asymptomatic infected passengers up to 17 days after cabins were vacated on the Diamond Princess but before disinfection procedures had been conducted (Takuya Yamagishi, National Institute of Infectious Diseases, personal communication, 2020). Although these data cannot be used to determine whether transmission occurred from contaminated surfaces, further study of fomite transmission of SARS-CoV-2 aboard cruise ships is warranted.

RNA is really just the DNA of a virus, not the virus itself. In order for the virus to be accepted by a host, it must be complete as the S-proteins are the part accepted by the ACE2 receptors of the host.

    Hey qwerty,

Again, thanks for being the official COVID-19 statistician for INGO. :) I'm using your numbers for my amateur models.

On that note, though, I notice significant discrepancies with the "official" numbers and the various 3rd party internet aggregators. To the point of frustration, frankly. And then, my natural cynicism kicks in and I wonder if the official numbers are being slow-walked or "weighted" so as to try and avoid any big spikes on any given day.

Any thoughts on the accuracy/timing of reported numbers?

I've got my beefs with some of the younger generation, but they'll eventually get older and start figuring some things out too.

Ya, most of them figure it out after their parents kick their freeloading a$$'s out of the basement and into reality. Then they either become fiscally responsible adults leading
a good life, or become a Bernie Bro or Aunt Pocahontas supporter for handouts.

So what are you saying here about the surface life of the virus?

The discrepancy may be a couple of issues as some may be updating in real time, some a couple times a day, some daily, etc. Another discrepancy is more that there is not a clearinghouse for the information, which for the US would be CDC, HHS, or some other inefficient government agency. At the least, they should designate perhaps Johns Hopkins as the official clearing house for US data. This could simply be clerical staff. They should be capturing as much data as possible from each confirmed case and death including age, race, sex, additional health issues, marital status, recent travel, blood type, genealogical info ....as much as possible.

Worldometer.info seems to be doing fairly good at keeping up, and every couple of days they go back and fill in with updated info (today was one of those days).

Another great resource for numbers is https://covidtracking.com/data/ The main reason I like them is that they are using open data that can be downloaded and analyzed, but their numbers seem a little low, but they have good info on testing.

At the end of the day, this is a failure of the government not keeping track of things, which surprises no one. In situations like this, good and accurate statistics are important for analysis, transparency, calming fears, projections, etc. I am glad to see several groups and states stepping up to try and fill the gaps, but because there is no consistency in data collection it only goes so far.

The rep authorities are delaying my rep for you until it can be positively confirmed by at least 3 external sources.

Alcohol-based cleaners disrupt the S-proteins meaning the virus cannot infect someone, but the physical remains of the virus will be there for some time...inert.
