These are my dads guns, I am not trying to sell them for him or anything like that. He has had them for some time and I am keeping them in my safe when they are doing showings for their house since its for sale.

I just wanted to get a rough idea on current value, I am just curious really.

1 - Colt Trooper MKIII 4" Blued 22LR. It is in amazing shape with 95%+ on the bluing and mechanically excellent. No box, no manuals, just the gun.

1958 Colt Trooper MKIII 4" Blued 22WMR. This gun has never been shot, it is in new condition with the tags still on the gun, original box, original manuals, all paperwork, etc. No score marks from the cylinder spinning. It is literally a 50+ year old brand new gun.

You are or aren't trying to sell them? I'd be interested in the 22 LR. They dont blue book super high like the diamondbacks or anything but they sell for good money. I'd say 600 on the no box and 700+ on the one with box, collector may pay more than that. Check gunbroker, but check completed auctions, not the ones asking 800 for a beat one that never gets a bid.

Sorry typo, I am not trying to sell them. I was just doing a little looking at values.

Blue book value (not latest it is the 31st edition) Trooper Mark3 .22 Mag. in New in box condition says $550. Little note under says for .22 Mag. add 50%. Your Dad invested wisely.

There are usually a lot of troopers on gunbroker (i'm still searching for a 6" nickel in .22mag) in .22 so that may give you an idea of what the real world value is right now. One caveat is to see if they are actually getting any bids on the prices that they want.

Where did you get the "1960" and "1958?" They're both MkIII, which wasn't introduced until 1969. The styrofoam box is probably late '70's or early '80's. I would say you're way off in your dating.

I looked up the serial #s at proofhouse under the trooper tab. Clearly that is wrong and apparently they are under a diff section. But the MKIII according to wikipedia was 69 - 82 so those dates are way off.

The 22lr with no box or paperwork should bring about $600 to maybe $700.

The 22 Mag is a different story With the box and the NIB condition I would say it should bring $1100 to $1400 maybe more. It is a very collectable gun, one that I don't own.

BTW I also agree you are off on your dates...

I think you were on the wrong link at proofhouse. Use the MkIII link, it only goes from 69-78. Pre-69 Troopers are on the Trooper link. The MkIII's have an L or J in the serial.

It has neither an L nor a J.

    Serial Numbers

    The 22WMR is Y14XXX
    The 22LR is Y22XXX

Edit -There is a J number on the 22WMR box, its J4240 but there is nothing on either gun itself other than the serial #s above.

I would bet that the proofhouse.com lists do not include the Trooper .22s.

    I think I found a reference:

    DateChartDA-1.jpg

If I'm reading this right, it would put your guns into 1980. The number are apparently the beginning of the series for that year.

yes the dates are off but a excellent pair. I understand they are not for sale but I would buy either one or both if they become available. In my mind the 22 LR $600.00 and the mag $900.00 great guns.
