Colt New Service revolver in 45 Long Colt caliber, 5 1/2" barrel. This revolver began its life in May 1917 as a .455 Eley in a shipment of 550 pistols to the British government London Armory Company. Letter from Colt states pistol was returned to factory in May 1953 by the New York State Troopers for repair, refinishing, and caliber change. Pistol is in great shape for its age. No British markings are found on pistol. Original period Sam Brown holster is in great condition with no splits or tears in leather. The name of J.T. Gorman is stamped on the back flap which I have been unable to link to the famous British author of the same name or of someone who served in the New York State Troopers. Pistol comes with holster and Colt Certified Letter of Authenticity. $1,500
