Why would a DAO gun, where the hammer cannot be left in the fully cocked state, need a thumb safety?

In a world where Taurus built an AR, I suppose anything is possible <<shudder>>

It would probably look something like this:

Wow. I can actually feel my eyes burning from the inside out...I think that may be hands down the most gutwrenching, scary weapon I've ever seen. Scientology scary. I remember seeing a photo of one before and forgot it - but now I think I'll never get this image out of my head  :D

They tried it with the Double Eagle, but failed miserably. the guns are clunky and awkward IMO. I have some and have played with them but have never shot any of them. There was an after market affair called Swenson that converted the 1911 into a DA gun. It had a small amount of success but has gone away too. I'm sure more learned folks will chime in here on the topic.

I shot a 10MM double eagle , back when it was brand new right out of the box , and it is in my top 5 most accurate guns I have shot , and the original owner still carries it to this day and he loves it.

I dunno......I'm supposedly a died in the wool 1911 SA man. BUT, and that's a heavy but, I have and sometimes carry a Para C9. It has almost the same configurations as a 1911, but with that sweet LDA. It has been 100 percent reliable so far. (about 400 rounds through it).
