    Hi guys,

I've been a long time lurker and figured it was time to register and join up.

Here is what I am pondering currently, I am looking for a OWB paddle holster for a 1911 Commander length.

I would like a leather holster as I already have a Serpa ( Which works fine, but hey why not another one).

But here is the big issue, most of the ones I have found through internet search and what have you have specified that they are government length, and frankly that just wont work to well.

    Any ideas guys?

I really like the Serpa holsters I have 2 of them. 1 for full size and another one that I bought in the commander size and cut it to length for my Kimber 4" TLE. I just wrapped some black tape around the end and cut it in the middle of the tape. Cleaned up the edges and it works and looks great.

Yep, I cant complain about the function of the serpa holster at all, and I have a couple of them for different guns I have. The only downfall of using my 1911 with the Serpa is that my gun is stainless and the top of the slide is a beadblasted finish, this in turn rubs against the holster and pulls off some of the black plastic that sticks to the slide. This in no way affects function but looks a little off. (I use a Galco Kingtuk as my CC holster and it does the same so what am I complaining about)

I've had a Safariland paddle holster for a number of years now, and I've used it with both an Officer's model and a full-length 1911, with no problems. The Govt. sized sticks out the bottom a little bit (about 1"), but to me that's no big deal.

The model is # 5181. The same model pulls up for the Gov't, Commander and Officer's.

edited: although they call it a "concealment" paddle holster, it prints pretty badly. Paddle holsters just don't conceal very well.
