Removing some old color fill that was done with testers paint. Now very blotchy around area. Tried Hoppes, thinner, non acetone remover-nothing. Any ideas? Anyone close to Peru that does cerakote?

Hit it with a thinner soaked rag. Dry it off and then wipe it with a silicone rag or a thin film of oil.

Acetone and a stiff bristle brush always has worked for removing paint, Loctite, adhesive and gold/silver/white engraving filling. Take a cloth, wet it with acetone and rub the area to be cleaned. Dampen cloth again and let sit on area (never had any problem with bluing, parkerizing or nickle gun surfaces). Again rub with dampened acetone cloth and begin brushing. Keep dipping brush in acetone and wiping removed paint off.

When done, let acetone evaporate and oil surface.

You might be surprised at how well wooden toothpicks might work with a bath of paint thinner that has soaked for a bit.
