Did not have a button to push for cancel, so it was my only option.

Also, it was more code orange than code red, However I happen to be drinking a red cherry soda so the word red was in my mind as i was typing

I must use logic because I look frightenly like your avatar and it is freaking me out!

It MAY NOT be illegal, but I tell people all the time, this is a drive thru, NOT a walk up ..... :twocents:

    1. I'm pretty sure you can cancel a transaction at anytime before the cash is dispensed!

    2. I've met both Chris and Snorko, .......Snorko, your not close to being as ugly as inccwchris!:D

    3. There is usually only one ATM at a branch, so there is nothing wrong with walking up to it! (IMO)

    4. Now, driving up to a "walk up" ATM......... NOT GOOD!!!!!

    5. NO ATM, I'm not talking about YOU!

I have been on both sides of the issue. In fact just last week I have avoided using an ATM because a shady character seemed to be loitering around. I have also been in a situation where my car broke down and I needed cash fast and the closest thing was a bank ATM, so I walked up through a drive thru.

I understand how OP felt, maybe not 100% since I wasn't there, but close enough. And my feeling is, if no laws were broken I personally would not have called the police.

If it was a drive thru, why did you get out to use the ATM?

I drive a pickup and I usually get out to use the ATM because most ATMs are designed for people seated at "car height". The truck sits up a little too high for the ATM and I have to sort of lean out of the window and stretch my arms down. It's just easier to get out.

If people were hanging around the ATM when I arrived as the OP described, I don't think I would even attempt to start the transaction. Either go inside the bank or leave and return later.

I think you did the right thing, however if I noticed them still hanging around after the car in front of you pulled away I would have just went to a different atm or go inside the branch to do my transaction.

I used to drive a big van with ladder racks and the local branch ATM was to low to drive thru so I pulled over to the side and walked up. What are they going to do give me a ticket. The place does not allow guns, hats, hoodies, and sunglasses since the got robbed. The cashier I have known since I was in school so they would let me carry inside (well no say anything) but I tend to respect the private property owners right to make the rules so I use the drive thru or ATM.

What at you in for son "walking up to the drive thru ATM "
