If I am not mistaken, the Sparrow has SS clamshells but the monocore is aluminum.

Be careful how long you leave the monocore in an ultrasonic.
An ultrasonic can eat through aluminum foil in minutes...it may pit the monocore if you leave it in too long.

Here is a guide on cleaning aluminum, in an ultrasonic.
The SilencerCo Sparrow is made totally of stainless steel.

I ran across a thread on the hide for a concoction of 50/50 white vinegar/hydrogen peroxide.

Did some searching & saw it listed elsewhere as well, supposed to be safe for SS.

Any reason not to try it?

Ya pays ya money and ya takes ya chances. Got this from the internet.
"Don't mix hydrogen peroxide and vinegar together in the same mixture. This can create peracetic acid, which may be toxic and can irritate your throat and lungs, eyes and skin."
It also should be disposed of properly because afterwards you'll have a mixture of peracetic acid and lead.

Sometime after 2015, mine is all stainless.
They offered two versions concurrently, the Standard Sparrow and the Sparrow SS. They also offered an stainless upgrade. I want to say it was 2015-2016 when they went all stainless.

Sorry for the partial reply, INGO is lagging something fierce tonight.

I may just drop the core & clamshells in the wet tumbler for a bit, trying to get it done today & move on to next project.

(edit), maybe just the clamshells. Not sure how the finish on the end will fair in the tumbler

Will probably order some of the Breakthrough, about $31 per quart various places, $90 per gallon on amazon

The outer tube really doesn't get that dirty inside. I let my Sparrow core and clamshells sit (days) in a glass tube with Shooter's Choice bore cleaner (the old version) that I had sitting around unopened since I changed brands. It does ok, but I'm always looking for something better. I'll probably put the Breakthrough on my Christmas list.

Asking as someone without much experience with cans - 1k rounds of filthy .22lr seems like a lot between suppressor cleanings. Would that typically be considered on the lengthier side between rimfire can cleanings?

My girl said about the same thing, I wouldn't recommend doing it. I heard something.... exothermic...... and with that I started laughing and didn't hear anything else.

Listening myself, I would have thought eventually the crust would just fall off and get blown out the front hole.

The pics in post 25 link are pretty nasty. Based on what I am seeing at 1k rounds that is probably about my limit, I was able to get the core out without tools but it was pretty stuck.

I had run a lot of lrn through it, going to try copper plated & take pics of how it looks when I pull it apart.

I would be curious to see the difference.
Did you **** up the O rings taking it apart?

I think the o rings are ok, bought a bag of each though just to have them on hand.

I will do a study over the next few months, log the count & ammo used, then take pics. I expect the carbon fouling to be similar but mine appears to have a lot of lead fowling as well so will be interesting to see if copper plate reduces that.
