Well, based on the timeline from your OP, they came from up here somewhere. One of them passed low over my house heading SSE in a hurry about 1.5 hours before your OP (I'm in NWI).
Since the tornado last week, The Blackhawk traffic over SE Indy has greatly increased! Usually we get 2 or 3 a week. Lately about ten a day. All have been traveling ESE/WNE to and from Shelbyville to downtown Indy or Stout Field
Saw one heading south/southeast, west of Brownsburg at 12:30PM this afternoon. Big sucker! Just like the pic above. We must be on their "route". We get the lifeline choppers running out to Hendricks Community occasionally, but get these twin-rotor guys now and then as well.
I live on the southeast side of Indy and 2 choppers just flew over. Probably the same ones you just saw. They didn't stop so I could ask them though...rude.
