I was searching for a mag for my FNP 9. It was between them and Midway, Midway was cheaper so they got my buisness. I go to whoever has what I want for cheaper. Unless their customer service sucks, or they screw my order up.

I have ordered from Cheaper than Dirt once, they screwed up my order and it took them 2 months to make it right. They finally sent me the right Mags on the 4th time.

I was already done ordering from them when they started gouging post election. Just one more reason not to go back.

I've ordered from them 3 or 4 times in the last 15 years with one problem that they corrected (cracked M14 stock) I just recieved an order last week. As for ammo I usually avoid mail order xtra charges for shipping it just doesn't seem economical that way unless your buying a truckload.

I ordered some S&W 4006 LEO magazines for $7 ea. that were advertised as used, but when I got them they were pristine new old stock. I read that other had problems in the past with their info being sold, or strange charges appearing on their credit cards for some sort of "monthly service", but I have not experienced that. After looking through their catalogs that came with the mags I can't say I find their prices to be all that great on anything else, but I saved a TON of money on the S&W magazines. YMMV.

This thread is an interesting read. I used to order from them 3 - 4 years ago. I usually look at several sources when shopping, and there seemed to be less and less deals on CTD.

Apparently I'm not the only to notice :)

I WILL NEVER BUY AGAIN FROM THEM, I consider them to be bandits and unethical price gougers.

Their great prices included $39 P-Mags during the Obama panic. They quickly took advantage of gun owners and screwed us all in the name of profits while many other on-line retailers held their prices in the $15 - $16 price range.

Further they sell a lot of Chinese junk.

Anyone who buys from C-T-D is supporting a supplier who will gladly stab them in the back during the next shortage.

Me, I try to identify REPUTABLE dealers and patronize them during both good and bad times.

It's amazing to me that you are able to own a successful business in this country with such a miserable understanding of microeconomics.

Raising the price during a shortage is the market's method of rationing a scarce resource. Those selling at $15-16 were quickly sold out.

I would have gladly paid $40 per P-Mag during the time when Obama was elected. Instead, people who think like you demanded low prices, which resulted in shortages when everyone was sold out.

The law of demand states that there is an inverse relationship between price and quantity demanded. You can call it "price gouging" if you want, but that's just socialist drivel. The reality is that prices must rise when there is a rapid expansion in demand or a shortage will result--and that's precisely what happened.

I ordered some Winchester Ranger SXT's from them. The had the lowest price, especially compared to the local shops. No problems with my order. Fast shipping.

CTD had me on backorder fo over a year on a case of 9mm wwb. I ordered it just b4 they raised the price and i figured they didnt want to honor the price I ordered it at. I would get a email form letter asking me if I still wanted to keep on backorder...all the time they were still selling wwb 9mm ammo at their new price which was 5.00 more per box. I just hung in there and told yes i wanted to be on backorder and almost a year to the day it showed up!

I am partial to cdnn and a couple of other etailers over ctd, however I am with some when it comes to shopping around, sometimes ctd has the best price on the exact item you are looking for, but mostly not!

I've never had a problem with them. I find their prices competitive and their shipping is very fast. I usually check other places first but when I can't seem to find what I am looking for, they usually end up having it.

    EXACTLY

To my mind they are opportunists who don't give a damn about the pro-gun community and simply are trying to take advantage of us when they can. Just like you, I prefer to support the companies that did NOT gouge us.

I think whomever has the best deal gets my money. You have to compare prices. Its nobodies fault but yours if you get gouged. Just learn from your mistakes and educate yourself.

I used to buy from them until I realized how high their shipping was on at least the items that I wanted that nullified the low price on the item. They also cost me money years ago when I got signed up for some travel assistance company that was charging me every month for a service to help me to get the best rates on hotels and plane tickets that I never even knew about. I was being charged about $10/month for this service and the line on the credit card bill was not detailed enough to let me know that it was not one of my amazon.com charges for DVDs that I order so many of. I finally caught it, but could only be refunded a couple of months of charges. It was something on the CTD order form that if you did not specifically check off that you did not want it, you ended up getting it. That kind of crap ended my association with CTD immediately.

I have not ordered from them in a while now (probably 2-4 years) but my recollecition was that their service was quite good and the pricing, including shipping was reasonable. Most of what I bought from them was Euro army surplus IIRC - no ammo or gun parts. I have them in my mental ist of "good suppliers", but then I shop around. If someone else has a less expensive price, I'll buy from them...
