Can anyone explain for me how you might even attempt to excuse the congratulatory fist-bump? Are they really that proud of themselves under the circumstances?
They just survived a harrowing encounter and were going to make it home that night.

No one here is making excuses for anything. Some of us would just rather let the investigators do their job than trust blindly in a highly edited video. Can anyone explain for me how you might even attempt to excuse the congratulatory fist-bump? Are you calling this a "fight" with a straight face?
Cops need to be thick skinned, no matter what came out of her mouth for the cops to react in this manner is an indication of a lack of control on the cops part. Not the kind of cop I want to be pulled over by while I have a gun in my vehicle.
Sadly, this kind of conduct will continue until good cops decide to find it totally unnacceptable instead of reaching for ways to explain or excuse it.

Bah bah, is right Phylo. Many of these people are the same that blame the media for glorifying Obama and destroying the GOP.
Can you please tell me what happened in the part of the video which was edited out?
There are many ways to explain something done by a police officer that most people who have no experience will find excessive. This is why use of force by a police officer is judged in court from the perspective of a reasonable officer provided only with the same information the officer in question had.
I'm inclined to believe that something happened on that video that the media doesn't want to show because it doesn't support their sensationalized version of events. Perhaps that missing link would justify the first take down, perhaps not. Just seems prudent to want as much information as possible before passing judgement.
Lets say I respond to a call of an active shooter at a business and the only information I'm provided is a white male with a handgun. I show up and as I approach the front doors I observe a white male with a handgun who has the gun pointed toward something in front of him. I open the door and say "police drop the gun" as he turns toward me with the gun in his hand. I shoot and kill him. The I notice another while male laying 10 yards in front of the man I shot with a pistol in his hand. Oops. I just shot and killed an armed citizen who had probably saved some lives. I made a judgement based on limited information and I was wrong. Was there malice? Intent to kill an innocent person? Would I be found guilty of murder in court? Not likely. What would people say here on INGO? I shouldn't have made that decision based on the limited information I had at the time. It's ok when the shoe is on the other foot however.

IDK what you were watching in that video but I just watched it again and I couldn't "clearly" see the woman raise her leg in an attempt to kick the officer. The first take down looked like it was not done on purpose. It looked more like a loss of balance between three people. That can happen easily. On the second one you can clearly see the woman's leg coming up. It looks like she was attempting or actually kicked one officers in or near the groin. She was clearly resisting. While it doesn't look to good especially with the typical media spin I don't think it is clear cut as some would like to think. Oh and her occupation has no bearing on what happened. They mentioned that quite often.
If you get pulled over and start running your mouth and doing stupid stuff sometimes things happen. Bet she thinks twice before doing that crap again.
what if the words that came out of her mouth were "I'm gonna kill you"? that would change things a bit, no?...
