Cabelas had em on sale this week too: Cabela's -- Secure-It Key-Operated Handgun Storage Safe

    I picked up two.

Well, my order from Cabelas came today. I bought two of the large handgun safes. They came with two keys each, and also a cable used to attach the safe to a stationary object.

My CZ-75 just fits. At first I thought that it would be too wide, but the foam compresses enough for it to fit. I can also store a second magazine next to it inside the safe. My S&W .38 revolver fits without any problem.

The cable comes in through a hole in the side of the safe, and is made so that you can loop it around an object. I'll put it around the seat mounts in my car while at work.

Another plus with these safes is that they are TSA approved, so if I want to fly with my handguns I can place them inside the safe, and then put them in my checked luggage.

I would not be able to carry at my place of employment, but that doesn't mean that I don't want to carry to and from work. So my question is, what do you do with your firearm while at work? The only thing that I can think of is to lock it in the glove compartment. Is that secure enough, or does anyone have any other suggestions?

In my situation, I am FAR more likely to need mine in the walk from my car to work, since I work downtown, and must park several blocks from my workplace. Also, while the odds of my car being broken into are excellent, the odds are about the same that my car will be stolen entirely. For these reasons, any solution that leaves my firearm in my car is unacceptable.

Unless you work in someplace like the Statehouse or City/County Bldg, I would suggest keeping it with you. If you have no place at work to secure it, then you get to test your concealment method.
