Say a little prayer for your compatriot, Captain Caveman. Just got the news from my his wife. They're at the hospital with heat exhaustion.

Little brother is no drama queen. If they're at the hospital its serious.

Will keep him in our prayers and thoughts tonight! I'm sure it was tough again today.

Wow, hope he's doing OK. Atterburry can really put you to the test. I drank probably 3x what he said and I was helping RSO, not shooting!

It was brutally hot out there. I checked the thermometer in the car and it read 102*. I think my phone said 94*.

A big thanks goes out to the Reveres Riders crew. This has been an amazing weekend. Definitely the best shooting event I've been too. Also would like to say thanks to Alan and his wife Mae (AA Optics), you couldn't ask for nicer people. Their generosity is unbelievable. I'm beat from the weekend, so I won't be doing a AAR. Let me just say a couple of things that come to mind.

First, everyone showed their American strength and will by shooting in this hot weather. No one complained or gave up.

    Second,
Every person on that firing line learned something this weekend, Guaranteed.

    Third,
When you get a group of like minded Americans together for a weekend with rifles and great teachers, magic happens.

Thoughts and prayers go out to capt caveman. Hopefully he can get to 100% quickly.

Thanks again to Reveres Riders and the Alcorn family, you guys are awesome.we

My name is chris. I was the guy in the boonie hat and bdu pants on the second day. Thanks for the concern fellas but I did survive the night. Cant remember ever having a more difficult physically rough time. My body shut down and I was in a bad way no joke. Dr said my electrolytes were out of wack. I think ill live. Do the research before you go out in heat like that. I should have know better than to push like I did. Dr said I drank too much water and that got my electrolytes outta wack. It was terrible. Still in the hospital thiz morning getting IV solution to bring things back into shape.
Had a great time at the shoot though and did learn a bunch.

I'm not sure I'd be jealous. I mean, we sent people to the hospital. Caveman wasn't the fattest, oldest or most out of shape guy we had there.

Glad you are feeling better, Chris. Riflemen give it their all, which you certainly did. Hospital bracelets aren't supposed to be your souvenir from our events. Hopefully you had fun and left with some good memories and scores also.
Take care of yourself and get rehydrated. See you on the line soon!

It sounds like the nurse I spoke to was right then. Too much "just water" can be a bad thing. I went with my usual Gatorade G2. Has lower calories + the sodium and potassium we lose at an event like this.

Chris, wondering if and when you noticed any dry tackyness in your mouth. That's a tip that your electrolytes are getting out of balance.

Maybe we'll have a mandatory G2 bong next time. :40oz:

It's like you are looking right at me when you say that second part. :dunno:

Chris, I hope you get feeling better soon!

I drank throughout but by the end of day 2 I felt early heat exhaustion for sure. I ran out of cold water and stopped cheating by putting ice in my hat later in the afternoon.

Pain aside, it is nice to get out of my body's comfort zone! Not trying to be all machismo but when you are a fat old dentist that is trapped in the suburbs physically demanding stuff like this is hard to come by. I'm ready to go again but my body is going to need a break!

When I got home my wife had leftovers on the stove. She came in the kitchen and said she was afraid to disturb me because I looked like a feeding animal. ( I know I smelled like one) :):

Nothing beats a quality telephoto lens ... except maybe a photographer that knows how to use one! Good captures. :yesway:

Glad to see your equipment survived the heat and humidity.
