My god, I must have been on crack(OK, maybe a bit drunk) when I answered "11," because I just counted again and realized I have 17...WTF?

I guess because 3 of them were Mag/spec confusions. The other 3 I have no excuse.

Oh yeah, duh...The other 3 were gauge issues. :)

Man, I thought that I had widdled down my calibers, but not far enough. I voted 11-15:

    .22lr
    .30 carbine
    .30 (.30-06)
    7.62 nato
    5.56
    12 ga
    20 ga
    .410
    9mm
    .32 acp
    .45 acp
    .357 mag
    .44 mag

Those are for weapons that I own, obviously I dont shoot them all, but I dont own any weapons that I dont have ammo for or any ammo that I cant utilize....

    Over the years I have dumped: 10mm, .40s&w, .380, 16 ga, .22 mag, .22 hornet, .41 mag, 5.45x39 and 7.62x39.

    Over the years I have dumped: 10mm, .40s&w, .380, 16 ga, .22 mag, .22 hornet, .41 mag, 5.45x39 and 7.62x39.

Those first two are my favorite calibers! Why dump them?

    For me:

    Handgun- 40S&W, 10mm
    Rifle- 22LR, 40S&W, .223, 6.8SPC
    shotgun- 12 Ga

And I can reload them all except 22LR...would like to get a .308 sometime soon.

I've consciously tried to limit the number of different caliber firearms that I own due to have to maintain a diverse stock. Whether it is the advantage of buying in bulk for range time or the most strident TEOTWAWKI subscriber who wants to maintain the Keep It Simple Stupid adage, multiple calibers can be... time consuming.

Somehow it never works out that way for me:

    Handguns: .22 LR, .25 ACP, .32 ACP, .32 S&W Long, .380, .38 S&W Long, .38 Special, 9mmP, .357 Magnum, .45 ACP, and .45 LC.

    Shotguns: 12 gauge & .410.

    Rifle: .22 LR, .223, 7mm Mauser and 30-30.

    Multiples in a few (9mm, .38, .357 & .45 ACP) but I've still whittled down a few... 10mm comes immediately to mind.

Not number of firearms, but the number of different ammunitions you "stock."

Same thing happened to me. I downsized, thinned out the herd of calibers and now I'm back to the mix of 22LR, 22mag, 32, 38, 357mag, 9MM, 40MM, 45acp, .223, .308 & 50. Damn, I'm an ammunition dealers poster child:draw:

omitted 410 and 12 guage, forgot 7.62X39, hell maybe there are others, must do an inventory someday

I could sell or trade the G27 (and lose the 40) rid myself of the Colt & Ruger GB (lose the 223) sell the SKS (no more 7.6239). sell the M1's and be down to a manageable stable of select ammunition. But then, reality set in :dunno: In a true SHTF scenario the more DIVERSE (GOD, I Love that Word) firearm assortment that I have may enable me to resupply in several calibers in case ammo was in short supply or nonexistent.

So now I must go buy more Guns and Ammo and the wife will understand that it is because we need to be DIVERSE :)

    Lookin' for Galt's Gulch
9 for gamin', .45 and 12 gauge for more social applications, .223 for trying to reach out and touch something (key word: trying).

I'll have to add .38 Special when I get the 442/642 and .22 when I get the Buckmark next year, but I doubt I'll add more calibers outside of getting a .40 for Limited Division.

We had 9mm, but got rid of those guns when we got the .40s. Didn't want to have a mix of 9mm and .40S&W since the rounds are so close in size and appearance. Just a mistake waiting to happen.
