Well, since both of my TV's are HD capable, they can kiss my ***, lol.
4 now. I'm sure they will find a way to get you later.

hope to be doing the same thing in about a month, only parting with directv. in the process of researching hdtv rabbit ears; our house still has a big antenna, but i have no idea if it would pick up digital signals, and i don't believe there's any coax still attached to it. the only bad thing is i'm on the far southern end of the viewing area for chicago stations, and too far north for indy/lafayette. hoping to get good signals with a quality antenna. i experimented with a cheaper radio shack antenna, but could only barely get a few stations.
Might I suggest one of the new Channel Master HDTV DVR's.
It's internet capable and has the ability to digitally record over the air signals.
It is truly a beautiful thing, I plan on getting one here in the near future.

channel 38 out of chicago is an ion station that broadcasts over the air. on direct i can watch the exact same programming on either channel 38 or 305....The one thing I will miss is the ION channel since they can Pysch and Criminal Minds re-runs but like everything else we will get over it....

I've actually had better experiences with the old big antennas for HD signals. Remember, since the signal is digital, you either get it or you don't. Personally, I'd try the one you have before investing in something else. The cheaper "HD" antennas are just basic antennas that Best Buy and the like jack up the prices on. To see a real improvement, you'll need something with an amplifier.

Jedi,
Even if you drop the basic package, most of the time you will continue to get it with your internet service as long as your tv has a digital tuner built in.
Best,

I think I would die. I actually reserve Saturday nights for the Psych marathon. That show is hilarious (and for sepe: the guy is a cutie). And were it not for ION, I would never know it existed. I don't even know what station aired it originally.
I get ION over the air though. I wonder why you don't.
You can buy the ClearStream 5 for 74.00 on Amazon and it's a great performing antenna, but it's not a deep fringe one. TX Fool and Antenna Web will let you know just how far you are from all the closest stations and give you a clue as to just what style you will need.
Well let me see if this current antenna can get ION. If it does then I'm all set. If not then maybe down the road (not likely) I'll get it.

Check TV-Fool and make sure your antenna is facing the correct compass heading, this is the biggest problem people have, improperly positioned.
