I have my dad's old Stevens Savage Model 28 12-gauge shotgun. Many years ago the shell ejector (receiver?) stopped working because a piece broke and fell out. I took it to a gunsmith who soldered the piece, reassembled it, and told me to make it a collector piece, not to fire it, as that piece would probably break again. Since then I've wondered whether parts might still be available to repair this gun properly so it could be fired. Does anyone know a gunsmith who might get parts for this and repair it?

I can work on engines, but really am a babe in the woods when it comes to firearms. If I'm going to shoot that Savage (and I always really liked it), I'd be more comfortable having a qualified gunsmith do the work. Many thanks for the info. I bookmarked the site.
