    But I have an ACOG on my AR, think it'll shoot around the same at short range(let's say 50 yards and under) as the .223?

    mine does not. maybe if you used some of the hyper velocity ammo it might be close but it probably won't cycle right.

    "Close" is good enough.

    Also keep in mind that the brand and type of .22 ammo you choose will have a great affect on how close it keeps POI. You will probably have to test out several different brands/types.
