I just picked this up at Bradis and got what I think was a very good deal for the rifle plus a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot scope. I got the scope mounted and checked everything over, still have to tear it down for it's first cleaning tonight then hopefully will get to the range tomorrow. I have owned a number of guns in my time and have been shooting for almost 30 years, but this is my first AR so it is exciting to adventure into something new again :)

    Here are the obligatory pics

EDIT: Just added some more pics of the internals

    What is in the box
    IMG00051-20100612-1637.jpg

I will be ordering some P-Mags asap
    IMG00063-20100612-1645.jpg

The scope comes with a mount and will also directly mount to the rail.
    IMG00060-20100612-1640.jpg

    Very compact
    IMG00061-20100612-1642.jpg

The red dot is easy to see. The rheostat is hard to turn at first but loosens up quickly. It is no Aimpoint, but it is nice for the $125 that is sells for online
    IMG00062-20100612-1643.jpg

The Carbon Fiber Polymer receivers are very light
    IMG00059-20100612-1640.jpg

This new version does have the dust cover and forward assist
    IMG00055-20100612-1639.jpg

    Another item to Magpul upgrade...
    IMG00054-20100612-1638.jpg

The gas block has a pretty rough finish, does not match the quality of te rest of the gun, but I am also a realist and know they have to cut somewhere to make the price right.
    IMG00057-20100612-1639.jpg

All put together and ready to be taken apart for a good cleaning
    IMG00067-20100612-1707.jpg

Here it is field stripped into the main components
    IMG00073-20100613-1721.jpg

Magwell looks good, no burrs or rough spots
    IMG00074-20100613-1722.jpg

Could not see any issues in the lower half. The trigger is standard but breaks clean with light pressure. The tube appears to be commercial spec.
    IMG00075-20100613-1722.jpg

At least they made an attempt to stake the keys :)
    IMG00076-20100613-1723.jpg

Nothing remarkable here to my untrained eyes
    IMG00077-20100613-1723.jpg

    Bolt and ejector look good
    IMG00078-20100613-1724.jpg

I do not see M4 feed ramps, does this make any difference in the real world?

No problem! I'm very happy with the money spent. I drove 3 hours to get there and was satisified that it was worth every second of the drive. If you get to the range before me would you mind posting an AAR? I'm curious how it will handle as it's the lightweight polymer build.

Will do. I plan on zeroing it in on some cheap stuff at 50 yards then seeing if the 1:9 barrel can stabilize the 75 grain Hornady TAP rounds at 100 yards. If it can I will post up the groupings and let you know how it handles. If it can't stabalize the 75 grain bullets then I will have to go and get a box of 60 grain and then re-zero from there. Wish me luck :)

    Have Fun With your Bushy's!

I love my standard AR Bushy, just finnished shooting steel out in New Castle. My Wife wants a carbine like those at Bradis and I've looked at them a couple of weeks ago. If I had the cash I would not hesitate. They are great guns, and she would love that red dot looks almost like the BSA on her Marlin! Have Fun! :ar15: If you Zero carfully it should do fine with 75 grain. I shoot 69 grn, and 75grn match with no problem. I've also shot the TAP ammo and it has done well out to 200yrds with a 1:9 twist. But I do have the longer barrel.

I have not been to Wilbur Wright in a while, did you take your own steal targets or do they have some set up now?

Congratulation on the buy. I'm sure you'll like it.
The one that I bought last year is the M-4 configuration with the 14.5 inch barrel, the Permanently attached IZZY flash hider, and the raised Tactical Flattop upper.
I wish that I'd gotten the pure flattop like yours. I have to use high mount rings to clear the integral rear sight on the top rail. :noway:

is that rail screwed or molded into the upper. and does it have m4 feed ramps

The rail is screwed in and as best as I can tell they did not cut in M4 feed ramps. I may be wrong, but I don't think any of the Bushmasters use the M4 feed ramp style :dunno:
