Most of the time it's a 1911 with night sights under the pillow. The wife has no clue about it. There is no kids around any more so over penetration is not in the picture. I'm always in a few feet of a gun if I'm in the house no matter what room.

On topic. I keep an M1 carbine and 2 spare magazines leaned up against the bookshelf within arms reach of the bed.
