Browning A5 Question

Will a Browning A5, 1989 Light Twelve, accept a 3" shell or or only 2-3/4"?

The A5 light twelve will only take the 2 3/4". They made a magnum version A5 that would take 3" shells but it will state that on the barrel and the receiver.

Thanks IU, a friend wanted an A5 to hunt with but wanted to use 3" shells and was told he couldn't. Didn't seem right to me so I inquired. Appreciate the answer.

An A5 would be brutal using 3" shells.

89 would be the japan made gun with screw in chokes. i have 2 of the japan magnums, great guns

The recoil of the A5 is sweet! Browning was a genius!

Browning was a genius, so very true. i would like to see some of the pattens that winchester bought from him that never went into production.

Bought another A5 from the early '30s. Looks like a beautiful day out so we are going out to the field to shoot it and a Savage sxs that I bought for my son. Look out you wily orange bottomed pigeons....should be a fun afternoon!
